Grant Ker  MANAGING DIRECTOR Grant is an “up, up and away” kind of guy. Hot air ballooning ticks his box, along with a passion for climbing; be it trees, rock walls or mountains. Obviously he can’t be doing this all the time so given a few minutes he will probably be found outside washing and polishing his car – ‘the roads are so dirty between Falkirk and East Kilbride’! Cars, whilst important are not everything and Grant dreams of visiting the Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia where he would snorkel the day away, photographing the underwater wonders. Away from work Grant enjoys barbecuing food for family and friends, ideally a rack of T-bone steak accompanied by an Australian Red. Grant’s favourite quote: “Procrastination is the thief of time. Collar him!” (Charles Dicksons)

Simon James, CEO & FINANCE DIRECTOR Simon founded Amos Beech in 1990 after working in the industry since 1971 so when it comes to experience, he has plenty! His training in a large PLC gives him unique insight into global businesses and how we can meet these challenges with the interiors we create. The slings and arrows of fortune (we all know you don’t win them all) have been met with his strength of character along with an ability to ‘always be learning’. An eye for an opportunity and he never gives up, the team can be assured that he will continue to impart his insights to them for the foreseeable future. Favourite Quote: "The only thing worse than paying an income tax is not paying income tax" Outside of work, Simon enjoys "exploring remote locations with my family."

Roy James PROJECTS DIRECTOR With the testing yet rewarding experience gained through hand rearing 3 pet pigs; Laura, Truffle and Martha as well as working in commercial office interiors all of his working life, it is no surprise that Roy is our go-to-guy for anything whatsoever at Amos Beech. A deep understanding of fit-out and construction through his own hands-on experience means that from the initial design stages of our projects, pragmatism and practicality are always woven into even the most ambitious schemes created by the design team. As Projects and Operations Manager, there hasn’t yet been a challenge his colleagues or clients have thrown at him that he hasn’t managed to reliably resolve quickly and effectively, in fact we think it’s what he thrives on. (Oh, and he likes blue cheese sauce!) Roy’s favourite quote: “I’m sorry to have kept you waiting, but my walk has become rather sillier recently.” (Monty Python)

Lesley McKerral WORKPLACE CONSULTANT Lesley is an Ultra runner in every sense of the word.  She is a well known and respected figure in Glasgow who has consistently helped businesses with their office interior fit-out needs over many years so her passion for the real deal comes as no surprise. Lesley and her husband are regular competitors in some of the biggest Ultra Marathons in Scotland.  All we can say is either midges don’t like you or you run too fast!  In more reflective moments, peace and quiet do appeal and a dream holiday would be hot air ballooning in the mountains around Annecy in France.  Uniquely for air travel – apart from when the burners are heating the air in the balloon, flight is silent and then you really do hear the sound of silence! Obviously with running being such an integral part of Lesley’s life, a geeky obsession with running shoes and Garmin watches is to be expected.  The great thing is that in Glasgow you can combine shopping for these along with her favourite cuisine; locally sourced Scottish food, preferably fresh scallops cooked in butter, garlic and splash of orange. Typically Lesley’s favourite quote comes from another Ultra Runner – Dean Karnazes: “Run when you can; walk when you have to; crawl when you must; just never give up” which says so much about her dedication and commitment to achieving at work too.

Gavin Anderson BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT Quirky, dedicated and loyal, Gavin is our sports guru and fitness fanatic. If not at work he can probably be sighted sprinting round Alloa in his shorts and singlet. 10K runs seem to tick his box and we’ll let you know when he runs better than 38 minutes! If Gavin could fly like a bird he would land in Vanuatu. Gavin will eat literally anything, however, he loves Indian Cuisine with South Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken at the top of the list. Gavin’s fun fact (see below) reflects his approach to life and his favourite quote (see below) tells you everything about his approach to work. Outside of work, Gavin says “I love the drive home thinking about the run I’m going to have” Gavin’s favourite quote: “Pain is temporary, quitting lasts forever” (Lance Armstrong)

Brockwell James SALES & MARKETING SUPPORT Brock is one of our newest team members and our youngest, having just finished his ‘A’ levels and decided to start work and continue with Tertiary education in his spare time. At his age and stage of life; energy, a keenness to learn and optimism are all traits we love to see and something that the longer serving team members find refreshing and invigorating – keep it up! Given the opportunity and enough spare time, scuba diving and swimming with dolphins are on the ‘to do’ list. Given the climate in Falkirk (latitude 56.0019° N); probably best to pursue that somewhere nearer the equator unless you want to freeze too! Definitely a people person, Brocks has joined the business in a Sales Support role and hopes to be meeting with our clients over the coming years and months – his interest in Economics means that his interest in commerce is more than skin deep, we know he will be an asset to the firm. Outside of work, relaxation seems to be the aim of the game and eating as much as possible! Italian/American dishes preferably…..so don’t let up on mountain biking, football and cricket!! Favourite quote; “they say it all started with a big bang….but what I want to know is; was it a big bang or did it just seem big because there wasn’t anything else to drown it out at the time?” (Carl Pilkington)

Matt Gillespie DESIGN MANAGER Matt likes motor racing, rugby and crossfit training. The racing bit is from the stands if it involves the 2 wheeled variety but he would love the opportunity to drive an early 2000’s F1 car round one of the classic racing circuits – Spa Francochamps would be perfect.  I think we all can remember the feral scream of the then V8/V10 F1 engines at 20,000rpm! Training for the toughest Spartan races is what really inspires Matt – pushing yourself beyond what limits you may think you have and finding out what you are truly capable of achieving is a fantastic trait and that is a number one feature of him and the design team that he heads up.  You look around and look at nature for those inspirational creatures that don’t believe in failure; ‘consider the ant’ capable of carrying 100x its own bodyweight!  Inspiration for Matt indeed. We all dream of the perfect road trip and Matt would love to travel the West Coast of America taking in the sunshine coast, San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles – coming from Scotland where we can only dream of their 300+ days of wall to wall sunshine every year, we would all like to go too! So apart from a drive to succeed in every area of life, when it’s time to stop an relax, then dial Matt up a Dominos stuffed crust pizza and a blockbuster with his girlfriend. Coming from Fife and with a Dockyard on his doorstep, you can understand why his favourite phrase is: "Worse things happen at sea!"  19th Century Proverb

Flora Hogg INTERIOR DESIGNER Flora isn’t just an Interior Designer, having been brought up around a family farm; animal husbandry, hard work and muck – she brings a fresh dimension to the design team! And all that hard work in the great outdoors has made her a kleptocoat – over 30 apparently and counting…which given her love for travel will probably mean many more to come. Maybe a Jabona will come home with her if she ever visits Peru – a country definitely in her sights! Having recently joined us – Flora is finding her feet and despite the warnings from her design team colleagues, she will doubtless experience some of the moments of humour that correspond with working here at Amos Beech. Happily for Flora, home is just over the hill which means her commute is short and gives her plenty of down time (if a farm ever has that) to spend with her collie Skye.

Kit-Har McLaughlin INTERIOR DESIGNER For Kit-Har, remote Scottish Islands and Yoga are 2 things that go together well – if you have ever had the favour and pleasure of visiting even only one of them, you would understand.  There is something immensely humbling yet inspiring about these beautiful places and the deep sense of inner calm you get goes hand in hand with Yoga.  This isn’t meant to be a travel brochure piece but hey….get the map book out and lets plan a trip! At work this inner drive means that Kit-Har sets herself high standards. To be better than best every time and always improving. Oh, and given her years of experience with McKellars she can even out anorak Sam James with furniture knowledge! A wonderful Granny-Ma at Kit-Hars second home in Tai Po (93 years young at time of writing) provides her with so much inspiration.  Family times are the best times and this along with her mums traditional home cooking and her hubbies special ‘homemade steak pie and potato wedges’ brings so much originality to her work here. There is an interesting trend developing at Amos Beech – more and more of us seem to be willing to put ourselves through pain barriers to achieve personal fitness goals and Kit-Har is no exception – running and cycling events are on the calendar and training is taken very seriously. So whilst there is a very professional and serious approach to design, it comes with a sense of humour, borne out by a favourite quote by Milton Glaser (American graphic designer for I❤NY logo):  "There are three responses to a piece of design – Yes, No and Wow!’…..we say Wow!"

Julian Fielder PROJECT LEADER Julian loves fish. “Tropical fish, marine aquariums, they’re mesmerising.” This defines Julian’s relaxed and understated approach to everything in life. He’s obviously learnt a lot from the tropical, cold water, fresh water and even Piranha fish he has kept. Julian is your archetypical Londoner with all the slang and jargon. His claim to fame is driving in London for 25 years and never getting a penalty ticket. His penchants for Chinese cuisine and his favourite, king prawns in sea spice batter with shredded chillies, has inspired his colleagues at work to broaden their own taste horizons. Robert Milne INSTALLATIONS TEAM LEADER Robert is our can-do installations team leader. His relaxed and chilled out attitude is highly valued by our customers. When finishing a long day’s work and asked if he can move “just one more thing”, he always obliges graciously. Robert is a keen music fan and when in the office can often be located by the sound of his singing. Outside of work he enjoys following the fortunes of the Scottish national football team as a season ticket holder and has been to every home game for the past 322 years! With a nice Indian curry, glass of cider and a house by the river, Robert’s happiness would be complete as long as his team was winning. He lives up to his favourite quote. Emma Skirton OPERATIONS ADMINISTRATOR Known in the office as “Ack” due to some obscure “Biggles” reference, Emma looks after the Operations side of the business with verve and aplomb. The early starts aren’t exactly to her liking as she prefers to adjust to daylight gradually. Emma has a keen interest in all things culinary with a predilection for Mediterranean cuisine. Chris Fielder ACCOUNTS ADMINISTRATOR Chris, if you saw him, you would notice him for he cannot hide behind lamp posts. Luckily for Chris, he has normally left for the day before our office cleaner arrives as vacuuming whilst he is concentrating is his biggest bug bear. In his ideal world, Chris would have retired by now with a huge pension pot which he would be using to create a wild garden for bees, hedgehogs, frogs and birds. Not to mention the time he would spend with his two hens Consy and Comely or his long suffering wife Anna to whom he was married in 1967 and who has been making his favourite shepherds pie and baked bean dinners regularly ever since. Chris loves a good book with quotes of Winston Churchill being one of his favourites, although with his legal training, a Rumpole of the Bailey novel and a glass of Cognac also go down a treat. Chris’s favourite quote: “Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties” (Winston Churchill)

Sarah Harper QUANTITY SURVEYOR Accurately costed projects are crucial to the ongoing success of Amos Beech and Sarah is our in-house Quantity Surveyor providing this vital function. Outside of work Sarah is never anything other than busy! Two young sons and a bike shop that she runs with her husband means that quiet moments are few and far between. When these do come round, Sarah enjoys reading which seems like the right form of relaxation after all that exertion! Oh, and don’t forget the chocolate!! Unsurprisingly, cycling is a key component of the Harper family and given the chance, a cycling tour in Austria would tick all the boxes.

Vincent Hartman MARKETING MANAGER Vincent is our ‘in house’ ‘larger than life’ Dutchman. He is like a tin of baked beans because what it says on the label is exactly what you get inside! Straight talking, no nonsense and a wonderful breadth of experience, marketing and selling ground breaking innovative products across Europe and beyond. Living and working in Scotland allows Vincent to combine business with pleasure – hills in Holland are few and far between and he likes nothing better than getting mud plastered all over his Land Rover 110 tackling steep gradients. Scotland has hills aplenty! Real 3D fun on the one hand and on the other, an obsession with website marketing, hits, analytics and increased traffic making for front page google rankings make him a force to be reckoned with for both Amos Beech and Incognito Underfloor Heating.  Vincent is a Pro photographer and has successfully run his own business in this field and came to Scotland with more kit than you can shake a tripod at. He would like a set of night vision goggles though if anyone has a spare pair going! So, if you are in Scotland, watch out for a light blue Land Rover 110 with the steering wheel on the 'wrong side’ – Vincent has been driving the same trusty beast for 20 years and will be doing so for at least another 20 too! Not too sure what the emissions standards will be like by then! Vincent’s favourite quote: “This is the way to do it, but perhaps tomorrow there is another way"
